Shakespeare's Hamlet has caused many reactions over the years. Most commonly the student first begins to panic. What is your impression of Act I so far? What has surprised you?

Week Two - Jackson or Maupassant

These two authors are radically different and yet have similarities which you are probably noticing and struggling with as you read this week. Do you think Shirley Jackson deserved the outpouring of wrath from the public for her story "The Lottery"? What would have prompted such an outcry?

Or consider Maupassant - read about his life and tragic death. Why do you think authors and artists often struggle with these issues?
